When it comes to Indian cuisine, I’m quite demanding. Over the years I’ve tried many restaurants, but recently I realised that I still hadn’t found an address in the South of Luxembourg that truly made me want to come back again and again.

That’s exactly why Khukuri Restaurant in Dudelange had been on my list for some time.

I walked in expecting a rather traditional Indian restaurant. Instead, I discovered an authentic Indian and Nepalese restaurant full of bold flavours, generous portions and a team genuinely passionate about sharing their cuisine.

Let the team choose

Rather than ordering ourselves, we asked the team to prepare the dishes they feel best represent their menu. It’s something I always enjoy doing because it allows chefs to showcase their signature dishes instead of us playing it safe.

Our experience started with momos, one of the best-known specialities of Nepalese cuisine. We tried both the chicken and beef versions, but for me the beef momos were the clear winner: rich, juicy and packed with flavour.

Next came the lamb chops, and honestly… no explanation needed. Perfectly cooked, beautifully charred on the outside while remaining incredibly tender inside.

The Chicken Bhalti followed, bringing exactly the level of spice I was hoping for. One thing I particularly appreciated is that the team takes the time to explain the different spice levels and happily adapts them to your preference. And if you’re looking for authentic Indian spicy… don’t worry, they’ll definitely deliver.

Saving room for dessert is mandatory

We ended our meal with two traditional desserts: Pista Kulfi, a creamy pistachio ice cream, and Gulab Jamun, soft milk dumplings served warm in a fragrant syrup.

Both were the perfect ending to a meal full of intense flavours and a lovely reminder that Indian desserts deserve far more attention than they usually get.

More than just good food

Great food is one thing, but great hospitality makes all the difference.

Throughout the meal, the team was incredibly welcoming, happy to explain each dish and always available with recommendations. It’s exactly the kind of service that makes you feel comfortable whether it’s your first time trying Indian cuisine or you’re already familiar with it.

The portions are generous, prices are fair and, during the warmer months, the terrace offers a lovely setting for lunch or dinner.

Final thoughts

Khukuri was genuinely one of the nicest culinary surprises I’ve had recently.

Authentic flavours, generous portions, excellent hospitality and dishes prepared with care make it a restaurant well worth discovering—whether you’re already a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking to try something different.
