Some restaurant concepts sound appealing. Others genuinely surprise you. Cannoleria, recently opened in Bonnevoie, easily belongs to the second category.
Already present across several European cities, Cannoleria is built around a simple yet brilliant idea: combining two icons of Italian indulgence — pinsa romana and cannoli siciliani. Rome meets Sicily, and the result is far more convincing than one might initially expect.
The Atmosphere
Before even getting to the food, the space itself deserves attention. The location feels warm, cozy, and effortlessly inviting. The kind of place where you sit down planning a quick visit and somehow end up staying much longer.
The interior strikes a pleasant balance — stylish without trying too hard, comfortable without feeling overly casual. Add to that genuinely friendly service, and the experience already starts on exactly the right note.
The Pinsa (and a Confession)
We started with a pinsa topped with burrata, shrimps, and truffle. Now, full disclosure: as an Italian, I am typically very sceptical about seafood on anything resembling pizza. It is one of those deeply ingrained culinary biases.
But this pinsa? Absolutely incredible.
The dough — made in house — was beautifully light, airy, and perfectly digestible. The flavours were balanced with precision: the creaminess of the burrata, the delicate sweetness of the shrimps, and the depth of the truffle working together harmoniously without any element overpowering the others.
A rare example of a combination that sounds questionable but ends up being completely convincing.
Comfort Food Territory
For the mains, I opted for arrosticini — because some cravings are simply non-negotiable — while my friend chose pasta with pancetta and mushrooms.
Both dishes delivered exactly what you want from comfort-driven Italian cuisine: generous flavours, satisfying textures, and that reassuring sense of food designed purely for enjoyment.
Extra authenticity points go to the arrosticini served in the traditional container — a small detail, perhaps, but one that Italians will immediately appreciate.
The Cannoli: The Real Showstopper
And then came the cannoli.
This is not a statement made lightly: these were very possibly the best cannoli I have ever had. Perfect shell, perfect filling, perfect balance. The kind of dessert that instantly resets expectations and quietly ruins future comparisons.
Final Thoughts
Cannoleria strikes that rare balance between feeling authentic and feeling effortlessly approachable. Nothing feels forced, yet everything works — atmosphere, food, service, overall vibe.
It is exactly the kind of place that works beautifully for an informal date, a relaxed evening with friends, or simply when the craving for something genuinely satisfying kicks in.
Safe to say: this is a spot worth revisiting.
For the pinsa.
For the cannoli.
Realistically… for both.
