Iād almost lost hope of finding a proper fancy sushi spot in the South.
And then @koto_belvaux happened ā cozy, curated, quietly confident, a few steps from Belval Gare and just a short drive from Esch.
We kicked off with a house cocktail with lychees ā unexpected, a little flirty, and honestly delicious.
Their house specialties are carpaccio and tartare, so we tried several. The smoked salmon carpaccio was silky and rich, while the truffle tartare hit that deep umami note that stays with you.
Then came the sushi: generous, elegant, and properly balanced.
You can clearly distinguish each ingredient, and the riceāfish ratio is spot on ā precise, clean, satisfying.
We paired everything with Japanese sake, though they also offer a lovely wine selection if thatās more your mood.
We closed with a delicious portion of mochis, a fresh and gentle way to end the meal.
Two more things to mention:
ā They have a pleasant terrace, perfect once summer is back.
ā They were wonderful with Little C., attentive and kind without making a fuss.
Koto feels like a small luxury hidden in Belvaux ā refined without being pretentious, intimate but warm.
Perfect for a date night⦠or a night that might turn into one.
