📍Mezza – “The Art of Sharing”, Luxembourg City

@MezzaLuxembourg has taken over the historic Café des Capucins, just a few steps behind Place du Théâtre, and transformed it into a stylish new space that’s already drawing in a curious crowd.

The interior is chic but minimal — the dramatic central bar counter steals the show, while light from the terrace spills into the room and softens the sharp edges. It’s fresh, urban, and surprisingly relaxed for such a central location.

🍽️ The Concept: Sharing Is the Standard

As the name suggests, sharing is the heart of the experience at Mezza. The menu is cleverly divided into meat, fish, and veggie dishes, and while you could technically pick and choose, the restaurant encourages you to go all in: about three plates per person is the recommendation.

Naturally, we took that as a challenge.

We ordered a wide variety:

  • Kefta
  • Tuna ceviche
  • Gyoza
  • Salmon “popcorn”
  • Garlic shrimps
  • Spinach & mushroom quesadilla
  • Beef tartare

✨ Hits, Misses & Must-Reorders

The ceviche was the undeniable star: beautifully fresh, perfectly dressed, and bite-sized enough to disappear fast. Definitely worth repeating.

The gyoza were well-stuffed and tangy, though I wasn’t completely sold on their soy sauce “bath” — just a personal preference. The kefta, though? A total standout. Huge, flavour-packed, and bold enough to command the table.

In terms of portion sizes, it’s a mixed bag: some dishes are surprisingly generous (kefta, tartare), while others lean small (shrimps, salmon). But overall, the food was well-executed, creative, and satisfying.

🍹 Drinks: Mojito of the Year?

I started the night with a mojito made with Eminente rum — and no exaggeration, it was the best mojito I’ve had this year. Fresh, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced.

The wine list is entirely focused on natural wines — which is either a bonus or a turnoff, depending on your preferences. For old-school wine lovers (guilty), the team can usually find a “normal” bottle if asked kindly. But honestly? Stick to the cocktails — they know what they’re doing.

🌟 Service Worth Highlighting

In a city where service is often just “fine” at best, Mezza stands out. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and took time to walk us through each dish. She also navigated my wine preferences without a hint of judgment — an underrated art.

That kind of attentiveness makes a big difference, especially in a place built around social dining.

🎉 Final Thoughts

Mezza is one of those places that does a lot of things well. It’s stylish but unfussy, sociable without being loud, and manages to balance a modern sharing concept with warm hospitality.

If you’re looking for a spot for a casual dinner, a catch-up with friends, or a date night that feels a little more elevated than the usual, Mezza is a solid pick. Bonus points if you stick around for one of their evening parties — because yes, they host those too.
