After hearing the buzz around its relocation, I finally had the chance to try @Torino Ristorante & Brasserie — formerly known as Caffè Torino — now settled into its elegant new home inside the Piscine building on Rue des Bains.
We booked for Mother’s Day Sunday, which turned out to be the perfect occasion to experience this elevated version of one of Luxembourg’s Italian staples.
🍽️ A Sophisticated Upgrade
The first thing you notice at the new Torino is the atmosphere: much more refined than its former venue. Sleek interior details, elegant table settings, and an overall polished aesthetic signal that this isn’t your casual café anymore — it’s a full dining experience. And yes, this is reflected slightly in the pricing, but the jump feels fair given the new location and concept.
🥂 From Starters to Specials: Something for Everyone
The menu strikes a nice balance between comfort and sophistication. You’ll find:
- Creative starters
- Sharing platters
- Fresh pasta
- Fish & meat mains
- Seasonal salads
- Monthly specials
We started with a vitello tonnato, which was fresh, tender, and beautifully plated. As a lovely surprise, we were also offered a gazpacho with squid and shrimp — light, zesty, and full of Mediterranean flavor. Honestly, close your eyes and you could picture yourself on the Amalfi coast rather than in the heart of Luxembourg.
🍝 Mains That Deliver
For my main, I had the spaghetti with red scampi tartare and bisque — rich, flavorful, slightly on the salty side, but deeply satisfying. My husband chose the spigola (sea bass), seared on one side and served with mashed potatoes infused with lemon and seasonal vegetables. Elegant, simple, and delicious.
Clara, our little guest, went for the kids’ lasagna — which was so good I would have ordered it myself with zero shame. Portions are measured: enough to satisfy, but you’ll likely want both a starter and a main if you come hungry.
🍷 Wine List & Terrace Vibes
The wine list is still growing, but already includes a few strong names at surprisingly reasonable prices — a rare find in the Luxembourg dining scene. It’s a good mix of familiar Italian labels and some niche options, and I’m excited to see how it evolves.
As for the terrace? Bright, modern, and inviting — ideal for date nights or summer dinners with friends. It’s a space that invites lingering, glass in hand, long after dessert.
✨ Final Thoughts
Torino kept the soul of the original café and gave it a sleek, grown-up makeover. It’s now the kind of place you’ll want to return to for a special evening out, or simply when you want to elevate your Italian fix with a glass of wine and a bit of style.
A beautiful addition to the city centre — and one that confirms that sometimes, change is a very good thing.
