Brasserie Schuman, Luxembourg City

Brasserie Schuman is like that girlfriend you meet again after several years, and after a bit of recognition, you’re like, “Wow! What did you do? You seem like a different person.”

That’s what it is: Brasserie Schuman used to be one of my favorite locations in Luxembourg, but I was never a habitué, as it always seemed to be missing something, either in the service or in the food offerings.

Since the restyling and under new management, it’s been a joy to rediscover an old favorite place with a twist. The food has been consistently improving since I visited again this summer. We ordered the hummus with nduja and the gromperel with mushrooms as starters, both sophisticated in detail and presentation, and tasty. We also tried the house pan brioche with tuna tartare, which was OMG!

For mains, I opted for the beef tartare, which was definitely the most beautifully presented tartare I’ve had, and it was also flavorful.

The service was kind and extremely patient with our requests.

Is it a pricey place? Maybe. It might not be the place you just pop into when you don’t want to cook, but it’s currently one of my favorite spots for a boozy meeting with lovely food.

Maybe you won’t take your ex back, but you can definitely go back and rediscover Brasserie Schuman.
