I have been trying to spy influencers, to jump a little out of my bubble and to discover some new places. I feel that, mainly due to Mr, who is very picky and routinary, we always end up in the same ones recently!

So, after having watched an Instagram promo, I decided to try Chez Toni, a local favorite in Schifflange city centre, easy to get walking from station if you don’t want to take the car.

The restaurant is in small house facing the Commune – be aware, only stairs at the entrance, so not ideal if you had a stroller like us – clearly recently renewed.

We learned the place has been opened back in 1972!

As Sunday lunch time in most of the local places, the clientele is composed by families.

We went for a “Antipasto Italiano” as starter, which arrived at the table already divided into two dishes and was simply composed by charcuterie and mozzarella. While the quality was definitely not bad, this would be a dish I would not order again.

But the slight disappointment of the starter was immediately cancelled by two giant portions of pasta. I had homemade pappardelle with wild board, while Mr had tortiglioni with Italian sausage and eggplants.

Both dishes were, as said, huge, full of toppings – and flavor! This is totally the feeling you are having lunch at an Italian nonna’s – even tho mine might would not serve you such generous portions 😂 -.
I always finish my dishes but this time it was very difficult!

Prices were also pretty good for the portions – pappardelle were 22 euro, 18 the tortiglioni. We spent 85 euro with the antipasti platter, water, one beer, one glass of wine and coffee.

So: if you are feeling the urge of eating a big, authentic “piatto di pasta“, without breaking the bank, Chez Toni in Schifflange is the place you have to visit.

The restaurant does also have its own pastificio where you can buy pasta to bring home.

What I liked about Chez Toni:

– Pasta was amazing. Chez Toni is definitely a pasta heaven: portions were huge, tasty, full of flavors. Next time someone would ask me where to go for a big, nonna style pasta dish, I would definitely say Chez Toni in Schifflange.

– The restaurant, considering the size of the portions and the quality of ingredients, it is super affordable. Also, due to the location and the place inside, totally recommended for family gatherings or friends meet-up.

What I liked a bit less about Chez Toni:

– The starter we chose was not one to remember, so next time I would order something different from the menu eventually.

So, to conclude, Chez Toni in Schifflange is a pasta lovers heaven. The perfect place for a big, tasty portion of pasta, with your family or your friends. Simple, but delicious.
