Last week, someone asked me to start suggesting some kid-friendly places. Not on purpose, but on Saturday, we visited Nonna Nenetta in its new location.
Personally, I would never suggest a place only because it is fine for kids, but for sure, if you want to enjoy food as a family and eat something extremely good, Nonna Nennetta is one of the first places that come to my mind.
The new location is like stepping into a crayon box: spacious, bright, and colorful. While the old menu was mainly dominated by pizza – one of the best pizzas in the South definitely – now you have much more choice.
We started with a platter of “montanarina,” fried pizza. I strongly believe the simplest dishes are often the most difficult to execute well. Montanarina is a very simple dish indeed, but here at Nonna Nennetta, it was truly delicious.
My next dish has been pasta prepared with “moscardini” (squids) ragout, olives, and fried zucchini. Mr had pappardelle with “ragout genovese,” a dish which, differently from what the name suggests, is from the tradition of Naples and is prepared with a lot of onions.
What can I add? Nonna Nennetta is the best place you can visit in the South for authentic, generous Italian cuisine. It is perfect for families, and the service has been lovely.
Special thanks to Aldo, our waiter, who lovingly entertained little C.
