Celine in the Kitchen has been for long time an internet sensation. Her cute cakes, prepared with natural ingredients and often vegan, were the cakes everyone wanted.
Unfortunately at that time she was working only for pick up in Differdange, so you can imagine without a car it would have been really difficult for us to order one.
So guess how happy I was when I discovered she opened her own shop in Esch, just around our block!
Her place is delicate, like her cakes, something totally different from the new coffee shops I visited around town in the last year. It is elegant, without being posh, graceful and welcoming. A lot of cute details which you will take time to discover, but as such are making the place full but not overwhelming.
Celine is open during the week for coffee and cakes, sur place or take away (you can find the details about opening time on her page), lunch and, on Sunday, for brunch.
Be ready: booking for her brunch is like booking for dining at Noma. You know when reservations are open, you set your alarm and zac! you try to secure your place.
While this may give you the impression the place is exclusive, the reality is that Celine is taking a real care about the food preparation, and the limited bookings are ensuring a pleasant time for you as client as she can be fully dedicated.
The brunch menu is set to 35 euro per person: which includes one granola to start – and I am not a fan of granola, but this one was probably the best I had – one savory toast – which you can choose among severals, including vegetarian and vegan – and three sweet bites per person.
If you choose the vegan toast, your menu will come as fully vegan.
I had the avocado toast, with a poached egg which was cooked to perfection, while Mr had the mortadella toast, with burrata.
Taste, portion size, presentation. Everything was delicious. You feel you are stepping into a candy cotton house where every little things on your plate is colorful and flavorful.
We had two bottles of water and one americano coffee and our total bill was 81 eur for 2 persons, which I think it is totally reasonable
If you like brunch, this is definitely a place you need to put on your list, for a date or with your girlfriends. And if brunch is not your thing, Celine’s cake bites alone are worth a trip from the City.
