Little India, Bettembourg, Luxembourg

You might remember when I started my blog, now almost 10 years ago, I was on a mission to find the perfect Indian restaurant and I explored quite a lot of them. At some point, my research stopped and I started being an habitué of my favorite one, one of the few places I loved going alone for dinner.

My husband, for different reasons, is not a fan of that restaurant, so the very rare times we are going for Indian, we are trying to find something different.

This renewed research took us to one of Inside or Outside favorite – and if you are not following her yet, please do so -, Little India in Bettembourg.

The place is clearly not a fancy one, but reminded me of a neighborhood’s Indian eatery when I was living in London.

Clean, colorful, simple.

I ordered Chicken Vindaloo, while Mr had Chicken Malai Kebab. The main courses were anticipated by a fresh papadam from the house.

Mr’s chicken portion was huge: a tandoori grilled chicken, coated in cheese. My portion, in comparison, was a bit poor, but the sauce was delicious and I appreciated they took me a second pot, on the spicier side.

Next to the chicken we had Garlic Naan, which was probably one of the best I had in a while. Again, very fresh, not greasy, generous.

As we did not have any starter, we decided to explore the dessert options and we went for a mixed platter of Indian specialities. This was a pleasant surprise – and perfect for sharing as pretty big!

2 main, 2 bread, 2 large beers, 1 dessert to share, we spent 65 Euro in total, which was definitely on the cheap side compared to all the Indian restaurants I have been so far.

Pictures of our dinner and then my final impressions.

What I liked about Little India in Bettembourg:

– Food was tasty and lovely presented in its simplicity. In particular I loved the garlic naan and I appreciated they took me a second pot of Vindaloo sauce, spicier, upon request.

– We spent 65 Euro in total for 2 persons, including 2 large beers and dessert. Totally a steal compared to recent prices in restaurants.

– My husband’s dish, garlic bread and dessert were also generous portions.

What I liked a bit less about Little India in Bettembourg:

– My Vindaloo portion was a bit small in comparison to other dishes.

– At some point, due to the several deliveries, service was a bit missing, but it was clearly because they were busy.

So Little India will be definitely a place I would like to come back to try other dishes on the menu and I recommend it if you like a simple, quiet atmosphere and fresh Indian food. Last, but not least, it is incredibly affordable!
