📍 Miam Miam – Esch-sur-Alzette

Last week I went exploring Algerian home-style cooking at Miam Miam in Esch — a small, unpretentious spot filled with warmth and the kind of energy that makes you instantly feel welcome.

We were lucky to have an Algerian friend with us, which helped a lot — suddenly the menu unfolded with stories, meanings, and flavors that made perfect sense.

We shared several starters, and my favorite was the meat burek: crispy outside, nicely spiced inside, totally addictive.
For mains, I had the mtewen — tasty, comforting, maybe I’d just skip the fries next time — and also tried the chakhchoukha, a generous, soulful dish that quietly tells you to slow down and enjoy.

Desserts were sweet and fresh, and the mint tea wrapped everything up on a soothing, familiar note.

Around €35 per adult, which feels fair for discovering a cuisine we don’t see often in Luxembourg.
Just note: the service is very slow (it’s family-run, which is part of the charm), reservation helps, and there’s no alcohol licence — so it’s mint tea all the way.

If you’ve never tried Algerian cuisine before, this is a lovely and genuine introduction.
